Composite Fillings Gold Coast QLD

Replace your amalgam filling with visually pleasing composite filling.

Modern dentistry now recommends the use of composite fillings to take the place of the old, ugly and potentially dangerous amalgam filling.

Why? Amalgam is made from an alloy containing mercury. It is thought that the amalgam material may leak toxic material when chewing. Regardless of whether or not this is true, it is now widely recognised that traditional amalgam fillings are a sub-standard material and will not be used in our practice.

There are a number of other reasons amalgam is no longer the desired material of choice for dental fillings:

  • Amalgam does not match the texture or colour of enamel of the natural teeth
  • Amalgam will enlarge and contract as temperature changes within the mouth, this may lead to cracks in, or damage to the teeth
  • By just packing the amalgam material into the tooth, there is not a ‘complete seal’, allowing decay to find its way into the tooth

Further Benefits of composite fillings

The composite filling material is beneficial for both visual and structural reasons.

Visual benefits – The composite filling we provide can be exactly colour matched to the original shade of your teeth, this creates a visually seamless look.

Structural benefits – Composite fillings come without any of the harmful substances associated with traditional amalgam fillings. They are completely mercury free, and agree with the environment and temperature changes in your mouth. The ideal solution to repair minor tooth damage.

To Note: Any dental procedure carries risks which also may depend on your general health. This will be discussed with you prior to any dental intervention.

Before proceeding you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner such as your dentist or your doctor.
